ETS operates the UC Berkeley broadcast studio, centrally located in Dwinelle Hall.  Our professional services provide a convenient way for television and radio networks to deliver UC Berkeley’s expertise to their viewing audiences.

Video Feeds (live/tape)

The ETS Studio connects to SBC via Vyvx, a digital fiber connection. We provide live-on-air, live-to-tape, and various tape-based media feeds of standard definition video to major news networks during our normal operating hours (8am - 5:30pm PST, Mon-Fri. All other times requested are handled on a case-by-case basis). While primarily used for UCB experts in their given fields, our studio is open to non-UCB-related guests as well.

High Quality ISDN Audio Feeds

The ETS Studio also provides radio broadcast facilities for remote interviews via ISDN (high speed phone lines). Our major clients are the various NPR affiliates around the country, as well as the BBC in Europe, CBC in Canada, and more. We also provide this facility for voice-over work for film and commercial uses, and can provide digital local audio recording by request.

Local Recordings

Our faculty are often in demand and cannot be in two places at once. Many who are asked to take part in out-of-town conferences will sometimes choose to record a brief video message in our studio to be sent to the conference on their behalf, either by DVD or webcast.
We also have a large stage that can accommodate interviews or round table-type discussions as 3-camera shoots.
