2007-2008 Classroom Technology Installations
This Project is a Collaboration between the Office of the Registrar and Educational Technology Services. Overview of the Project An ambitious project to improve general assignment classrooms began in the Fall 2006 semester. The classroom upgrade and renovation project represents the campus commitment to teaching and learning environments. The improvements are being made under the auspices of the Campus Committee on Classroom Policy and Management, currently co-chaired by Vice Provost Catherine Koshland and Vice Chancellor Genaro Padilla. “I am very gratified the Chancellor has allocated funds to substantially improve the quality of our general assignment classrooms. This project will benefit a large number of students and faculty members,” said Koshland. Vice Chancellor Padilla expressed his feeling about the project when he said; "We look forward to making these much needed improvements to our classrooms. We're the best research university in the world and our students deserve world class facilities as well!" Educational Technology Services and the Office of the Registrar will manage the improvement project. During the 2007 Spring semester, all of the classrooms in Wheeler Hall were equipped with audio/visual technology as well as infrastructure and aesthetic upgrades.
Over the course of the Summer, ten classrooms in Barrows Hall also received total audio/visual systems with data projectors, DVD/VHS video players and auxiliary equipment inputs. The new installations more than double the number of technology classrooms in Barrows Hall. During the 2007 Fall semester, six classrooms in the Valley Life Sciences Building received new audio/visual equipment. Throughout 2008 the classroom upgrades will focus on Dwinelle Hall, the building with the most classrooms on campus. During the two week installation periods throughout the Spring 2008 semester, classes will temporarily move to either 118 or 122 Barrows Hall. We apologize for any inconvenience.
