ETS Faculty Lab: A Collaboration and Learning Space

The ETS Faculty Lab, has been designed to support the needs of faculty and others as they as they gain experience in developing materials and online course sites for use in instruction.

ETS workshop attendees will find a new, comfortable, inviting space in which to learn. To better meet the needs of the UC community, both Macintosh and Windows stations are available. See the ETS Workshops page for information about workshops that will be held in the ETS Faculty Lab.

The room also has stations that instructors can use on their own for preparing course materials for class or course web site use. Equipment for use by instructors includes:

    • A scanning station with both a flatbed scanner and slide scanner.
    • A video capture station with hardware and software for the capture of clips from video tape, as well as tools to encode into QuickTime, Real, and Flash video formats.

The ETS Faculty Lab is located in Dwinelle Hall. Lab hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you wish to use the scanning or video capture stations, please call ETS at 2-8587 to be placed on the approved list of users and to receive details about access policies. You can also reserve either station for a specific time block to ensure that there are no conflicts with others wanting to use the station at the same time.

It is expected that users will already be familiar with the tools they need to use, as the ETS Faculty Lab will not be staffed. For an introduction to the process of scanning or video capture using the equipment in the Lab, please request a consultation.

See the ETS Workshops page for information about workshops that will be held in the Lab.
