Equipment loan (44) policies

Below are the policies that govern what, to whom, and for how long/under what conditions ETS rents out its portable classroom equipment.

Rental policy

  • We rent free of charge to instructors and GSIs conducting a class; we must have the CCN for the said class.  We also rent free of charge to students teaching DeCal classes.
  • Campus departments and staff can also rent equipment for non-instructional purposes, but a recharge fee will be required.  See our Checkout shopping cart or rates page for details.
  • Payment can be by chart string, check, or credit card.  If paying by check, please make it out to UC Regents.
  • Any rental that requires both the rental of the equipment and assistance with usage, i.e., ETS' labor, will be administered through Special Events.

Off property policy

  • ETS equipment may not be taken off campus. To ensure that it remains on campus, ETS requires all reservation holders (who are not currently teaching a class) to show their printed-out room reservation to ETS staff at the time of checkout. Failure to provide proof of reservation will result in denial to rent equipment.

Late policy for pick-up and return of equipment

  • Reservations not picked up within 1 hour of scheduled pickup time will be cancelled.
  • Regrading returns, please return the equipment on the designated return date, as ETS manages its reservation calendar based on our customers' checkout and return dates. If you don't return your equipment on time, someone else will be deprived of the equipment. Fees will be assessed for late equipment returns; a late fee is equal to the full rental rate of the equipment.

Mac Adapters

  • We do not have adapters to lend. Adapters can be purchased easily at the Scholar's Workstation.

VGA cable and extension cord policy

  • ETS does provide VGA cables in the classroom or with our checkout projectors. We cannot give out VGA cables, however.
  • ETS lends out extension cords to people who check out equipment from us, but as a rule we don't lend extension cords by themselves.

Key policy

  • A small percentage of rooms and closets on campus require keys. These keys may be checked out for short-or long-term (i.e., semester long) loans. The room info page on the ETS website indicates whether your room or a closet near your room requires a key.
