Quickstart for Faculty
By Michelle Ziegmann on Mon, 12/07/2009
The primary mission of Educational Technology Services (ETS) is to support faculty and other instructors in integrating technology into their teaching. Most services in support of courses are free of charge.
Classrooms
- Find out if your classroom is equipped with technology
- Check the Classroom Information page to find out whether your classroom is equipped with the technology you need, if you need a key to access it and how to use it.
- If your classroom has installed technology that requires a key
- Visit the Key Information page for information about obtaining a key.
- If your classroom does not have the installed technology you need
- Use ETS’ online reservation system, av.berkeley.edu, to reserve portable equipment.
- Don't see what you you are looking for? Contact Classroom Technology Support at 643-8637 for more information.
- Need to report a problem with classroom technology? Complete this form
Clickers
- Want to increase class participation and engagement among students? Clickers may be the technology for you. ETS currently supports the iClicker device. iClickers can be purchased through the bookstore or at www.iClicker.com.
- Feel free to contact the ETS training and support team to determine whether clickers are a good solution for your teaching needs.
- These FAQs may also answer your questions about the use of clickers.
bSpace
Collaborate with bSpace
- bSpace allows you to post course materials, promote student communication via discussion groups, send email, post announcements, keep track of grades, and more.
- To create a bSpace site, log in with your CalNet ID and Passphrase, then click My Workspace > Worksite Setup > New. You'll have your site in less than 5 minutes!
- Come to an ETS workshop.
If you have specific questions or need to learn how to use bSpace
- Visit the ETS Help Center where you'll find various resources for learning bSpace on your own (FAQs, illustrated instructions, animated demonstrations, and other resources)
- Visit ETS Instructional Support, where you'll find a schedule of instructor-led workshops.
- Submit a bSpace Support and Feedback form.
Webcasting
If you are interested in webcasting a course
- ETS can shoot, edit, and stream classes for webcasting live and on demand. For more information, fill out our Webcast/Podcast Support and Feedback Form.

Reporting equipment problems in a classroom.
Hmm, I've come to your website to report faulty equipment and it isn't immediately obvious to whom I should write. Perhaps it would be helpful if there were a "Report a Problem" link on this page of the top page. Maybe I'm just missing it ...
Good suggestion
Thanks for the suggestion! We do have such a form, and I added the link within the page above.
