ETS Helps UC Berkeley Broadcast the Celebration of Oliver Williamson's Nobel Prize to the World

After a great deal of coordination and pre-event planning, it happened. At around 5:30AM on Monday, October, 12th several ETS staff members awoke to news that would guarantee a very busy day ahead, Oliver Williamson a UC Berkeley professor had been awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics.

Arriving on campus early that morning, Alex Ouyoung began the process of setting up cameras, lights, microphones, and PA speakers at the Alumni House where a press conference was to be held. Elana Pereira and Airdri Stoddart were all on hand at the press conference to help run the technology and to ensure the event went off without a hitch. As soon as the press conference ended, Jim Richards brought the various hard disc drives, tapes, and cameras back to ETS post production group where Scott Vento was waiting to ingest, transfer, edit, and upload a copy of the conference to UC Berkeley on YouTube, webcast.berkeley, and iTunes U:

Meanwhile, Jon Schainker met up with Roxanne Makasdjian (Public Affairs) for a fast-paced day of following Dr. Williamson around campus with a camera and videotaping him everywhere he went. This content was also brought back to Scott, who edited the raw footage into a highlights reel and published it to YouTube:

I want to take a moment to acknowledge those ETS staff members whose hard work and dedication ensured that UC Berkeley's celebration of Oliver Williamson's Nobel prize was visible around the globe in a matter of hours. This was truly a team effort. Great work, ETS!
