What if my Macintosh laptop is displaying too dark?

How-to instructions for changing display settings on your Mac if you find the display through the projector is too dark.

Once you have connected to the computer input on the control panel via the VGA cable and selected “Laptop”:

  1. From the Mac pull down menu Select "System Preferences", then "Displays"

  2. On the output screen menu Select "Color"

  3. Uncheck "Show profiles for this display only" if it is checked.

  4. You will then have a number of preset display device output settings to choose from. The default setting may be "VGA Display" which for analog video passing through the installed control system will appear too dark. By selecting any of the other preset options the output display will change to various brightness/contrast/color balance settings, which may be more appropriate for the video source being used.

Usually the best setting will be sRGB IEC61966-2.

There is also the ability to do custom settings but this will take more time and is not suggested with class in session.
