Changes in Portable Equipment Loan Service

This Fall, ETS is focusing our portable equipment loan services on a more restricted inventory of equipment. Because the majority of general assignment classrooms have installed technology, the need for portable equipment has diminished over time.

These items are available for loan on an hourly or daily basis at av.berkeley:

• Data/video projector
• Data/video projector cart
• Overhead Transparency Projector
• Document Camera
• Screen (6' or 8')
• DVD/VHS player (standard and multi-region)
• DVD recorder

These items are available for loan on a project or semester long basis:

• Tablet PC
• Video Camera and tripod

These items are being discontinued:

• Audio cassette players
• Audio packages
• Boomboxes
• Laptops
• Slide Projectors

Why is this equipment being discontinued?
During the past three years, ETS has led a campus-wide project to install 21st-century A/V technologies used in teaching and learning in General Assignment classrooms. Now, 165 GA classrooms - nearly 75% of the total - have installed technology, with data projectors, DVD/VHS players, audio, and laptop connections.

Where can I find this equipment if I still need it?
With this announcement you will find a list of on- and off-campus alternatives for obtaining the equipment described above.

As well, our Special Events group will retain a limited number of these items, which will be available to departments for non-instructional use on a recharge basis.
